Qatar

The Qatar national football team is governed by the Qatar Football Association (QFA) and competes in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). The team plays home matches at Lusail Iconic Stadium and the Education City Stadium, and wears dark red and white.

Qatar hosted the 2022 FIFA World Cup — the first Middle Eastern country and the first Arab nation to do so — gaining automatic entry as hosts. The Maroon lost all three group stage matches. Prior to 2022, Qatar's greatest achievement was winning the AFC Asian Cup in 2019 on their debut, defeating four-time champion Japan in the final. Qatar's football infrastructure has been transformed by hosting the World Cup.
